Alcohol Policy

Salem HOG Alcohol Policy

Alcohol Policy: Adopted: May 8, 2007

Purpose: To provide a safe and fun riding environment for all Salem HOG chapter members and their guests as well as following National HOG’s hand book guidelines. This policy is in effect during both “closed” and “open” chapter rides.

Definitions:

Kickstand Down – When the group has arrived at the ride’s final destination and the chapter ride is officially over. Chapter Ride – Any ride that is organized, announced or promoted through the chapter communications such as, but not limited to, HOG meetings, HOG e-group and the HOG bulletin board as a chapter ride.

Examples of a chapter ride would be: 1. Friday Night Dinner Ride (Kickstand down would be at the dinner location) 2. Group ride to another event. (Kickstand down would be at the location of the event which the group is riding to – or if it is customary for the group to return from the event together, kickstand down would be after returning to where the ride originated.) 3. A day ride. (Kickstand down would be when the ride is officially over) 4. An overnight ride. (Kickstand down would be the final destination for each day)

Examples of a non-chapter ride would be: 1. A group of friends, Salem HOG members or not, that meet to go for a ride. 2. Any ride that is organized, announced or promoted through the chapter communications such as, but not limited to, HOG meetings, HOG e-group or the HOG bulletin board as a non-chapter ride.

Policy: Before and/or during any Salem HOG chapter ride, the use of alcohol or illegal drugs by anyone on a motorcycle will be grounds for removal from that particular chapter ride. A chapter ride should be clearly announced or announced that it is not a chapter ride. The ending of a chapter ride should be clearly defined. The term “kickstand down” would indicate the official ending of chapter ride.
